Where Over Half Of Births Are Caesarean  Even though a C-section can be a life-saving procedure for both mother and baby, it does come with risks and can lead to complications, particularly when it comes to future births. In at least five countries, over half of all births are delivered by C-section. The following infographic provides an overview of the countries with the highest rates in comparison with the United States. The Dominican Republic comes first with 58.1 percent of all births delivered via the procedure, followed by Brazil and Egypt who are tied on 55.5 percent.
