Hi there, If you were at that healthcare conference last week, I hope you’ve fully recovered from all of the information thrown at you and the miles of walking around the streets of San Francisco. A little recap on our conference experience further down.   But first, we want to unveil the survey results from a few weeks ago. In the survey, we asked for your opinions on how healthcare could be disrupted in 2020. We had 855 responses (percentages are rounded). Here are the results. Amazon & Google are neck and neck For the second year in a row, Amazon prevailed as the tech giant that may have the biggest impact on healthcare. However, it won by smaller margins than last year, when it received 43% of the votes.

And Google went up. Last year, 28% of the voters found Google to have the most impact. This isn’t too surprising if you think about all of Google’s recent health moves within the last year, with announcements of key partnerships and acquisitions. The most impactful tech in healthcare On the most disruptive technologies, 65% of you voted for artificial intelligence — seeing a jump from last year’s 55%. The remaining 4 categories all saw a decrease in votes compared to last year's results. This may be due to the ubiquitous nature of AI in the healthcare industry. While it has become somewhat of a buzzy term, we can’t deny that it has also dominated the conversation in healthcare this past year due to its broad applications throughout the industry.

Most at-risk for disruption Brick-and-mortar pharmacies came in at the most at-risk for disruption, with 33% of the votes. This aligns with some of the swift changes we’ve witnessed across the pharma supply chain. Especially as we’ve seen Amazon eyeing each part of that chain, harnessing its logistics capabilities and its growing base of Prime members throughout the country. As its brand, PillPack by Amazon pharmacy, continues to penetrate the market especially with key health insurers, the e-commerce giant may be able to disrupt this market at scale.
