Steady Rise for Women in STEM but Gender Gap Remains



Due impart to the consistent rise in STEM graduates overall, the gender gap continues and, in raw numbers, is larger than it was in the 2008-2009 school year. Looking at the percent change, female students are turning to STEM. The number of male students who have been granted a STEM degree or certificate increased by 38 percent between the 2008-2009 and the 2015-2016 school year, while the number of female students who achieved the same degree or certificate increased by 48 percent.

Harvard Received $1.4 Billion In Donations Last Year

As well as supporting education, donations to universities also help fund campus hospitals, museums and research facilities, among other institutions. When it comes to the origin of funding in 2018, $14 billion (30 percent ) was from foundations, $12.15 billion (26 percent) came from alumni, $8.57 billion (18.3 percent) was from nonalumni and the remaining $5.27 billion (11.3 percent) came from other organizations.

MEAT CONSUMPTION How Many Animals Do We Eat Each Year?




Across the world, billions of animals are slaughtered for meat every year. According to UN Food and Agriculture Organization data published in 2017, excluding poultry, pigs are by far the most slaughtered livestock animal. In 2014, the most recent year data is available, 1.47 billion pigs were killed for their meat. Read more.
