What Influences Gen Xers' Purchase Decisions? According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the median income of households led by householders aged 35-44 years and 45-54 years are $78,368 and $80,671, respectively, compared to just $62,294 for households led by 25- to 34-year-olds and around $40,000 for even younger householders. Interestingly, marketing to Gen Xers requires a totally different approach than targeting Millennials, who practically live their entire lives online. National Competitiveness The United States is at the very top of the competitiveness league with a score of 85.6 out of 100, performing well in the categories of Business Dynamism, Financial System and the Labor Market. The World Economic Forum makes the point that one unifying theme of this year's research is that the globe's most competitive economies all have room for improvement. Despite coming first, the U.S. is no exception and it has a lot of work to do in the categories of Institutions, ICT Adoption and Product Market. With a score of 85.6, Singapore had the second-best overall performance, ahead of Germany (82.8) and Switzerland (82.6). Read more.

Where Over Half Of Births Are Caesarean  Even though a C-section can be a life-saving procedure for both mother and baby, it does come with risks and can lead to complications, particularly when it comes to future births. In at least five countries, over half of all births are delivered by C-section. The following infographic provides an overview of the countries with the highest rates in comparison with the United States. The Dominican Republic comes first with 58.1 percent of all births delivered via the procedure, followed by Brazil and Egypt who are tied on 55.5 percent. In the United States, the rate is far lower but still a relatively high 32.9 percent. Read more.
